Soul Care is all about breaking down the ways you can take care of yourself, making small changes, and seeing how they all come together to make you feel better.
Discovering and honoring the different aspects of who you are.
Taking care of your body.
Connecting with your emotions beyond a surface level.
Investing in meaningful relationships that help you feel valued and supported.
Centering yourself in your beliefs, values, and connection to spirituality, whatever that may be.
Leaning into your curiosities and finding ways to express yourself.
Planning for the future and finding meaning in your day-to-day activities.
Taking care of the spaces around you, from your room to your neighborhood to the planet.
The Soul Care Guide to Holistic Well-Being outlines the Soul Care pilot program and strategies for managing holistic well-being to participating youth and their Fair Futures coaches.
Learn about the planets in your Soul Care solar system to explore how different aspects of life affect your well-being.
Beginning in late 2024, the program is being progressively rolled out across five pilot foster care agencies as we prepare for scaled citywide implementation in 2026.
These initial five NYC foster care agencies are:
Children’s Village
Graham Windham
HeartShare St. Vincent’s
JCCA
The New York Foundling
The Soul Care program was conceived of by youth in foster care and is being piloted by the Center for Fair Futures. It is being designed by the Public Policy Lab and Foster Youth Impact with guidance from the NYC Mayor’s Office for Community Mental Health and the NYC Administration for Children’s Services.
This multi-year initiative has been made possible by the generous support of the Conrad E. Hilton Foundation and the Fund for the City of New York.
